Today I Leave My Comfort Zone

Today begins my transition period moving away part of my supports from Coimba to my NDIS support workers. Every single Friday for the past 21 months I have had the Coimba workers come and pick me up between 8 and 8.30am to go to do the weekly chemist and shopping trip. Today that all changes.

From 8am this morning my NDIS support worker will be here to pick me up. We will then go to the chemist and then off to the supermarket for weekly shopping. So I am again stepping out of my comfort zone in doing this. I have been breaking out of my normal routines and comfort zone a lot over the last month.

I am not going to say I feel comfortable about this because I am a little concerned. But as long as I have my anxiety medication before I leave and also have an extra dosage on me just in case anything happens when I am out. The good thing that will help is the fact that I am with a support worker I know well. So that will actually help for sure.

There is still a lot more of leaving my comfort zone soon. But as I mentioned to my Coimba caseworker it is something I need to do slowly and I know in myself the time is right to begin the transition of moving more towards my NDIS workers for when my forever home comes along in the not too distant future. So I know the time is right, it just isn’t going to be easy as I have now been in a routine for so long and it is now time to change that routine and take a leap of faith that this is all going to work out.

Now, in saying this it also means that I need to begin starting to keep my NDIS support worker time frames or I will run out of money. So the month of party time is over. Now it is time for a routine and to stick to the routine also. This will mean that I have several days a week alone, which is something I also need. But at the same time if I need to get out I can contact my support worker and he is usually free to come later in the day to get me out or do what I need to get done.

So right now I have 3 hours until the stepping out of my normal routine and comfort zone begins. Let the fun and games begin.
