Day 127 – Good News Within

Today marks day 127 (18 weeks and 1 day) since admission to the hospital. It marks 126 days since the first surgery, 123 days since the second surgery and finally 116 days since the amputation below the knee.

It has been a long road to recovery and to the stage where I am at to this day. I am up and walking about daily on my prosthetic leg unless I am really not up to it. Still the majority of the time I am in a wheelchair and it will be that way for a very long to come.

Over the last week, there has finally been some good news. My hospital stay is now coming to an end. A property, a unit fully fit to my needs has been found. Pictures have been seen and an official offer has been made. Yesterday, on day 126 (18 weeks) I signed an offer of acceptance to the property. We have the lease signing at 2pm Tuesday. We can’t do it Monday as it is a public holiday. My caseworkers are looking at having furniture on the property on Wednesday and hopefully by the end of the week or early the week after my hospital stay will finally be over and I can start sorting into some form of routine in my forever home. Which has been a long time coming.

It looks like at this stage the hospital might be lending me some equipment until the NDIS purchases and changes my plan around to suit the new needs.

I will update further when I have more updates, which will probably be Tuesday when I will post a pic of me with the keys to my property before handing them to my caseworker for them to get my furniture and belongings into.
