2023 Begins …

It’s nearly 4 hours into 2023 and this year there is a lot of things that I want to do … A lot of things that I want to achieve … There is going to be a lot of ups and downs …

2022 for me was one of the hardest years that I have ever had and I have had some really, really tough ones before. But never in my wildest dreams would I think I would have had a BKA (Below Knee Amputation) of one of my legs. I was hard enough when in 2021 I lost my little toe on the right foot, but that would never prepare me for the events of May and June of 2022.

Just a very quick recap, the end of May involved two amputations, one on the 28th and one on the 31st. The 28th was my little toe on the left foot, the 31st was the next toe on the same foot. However, after the second amputation it turned out the infection had spread up the leg and there was no choice but to remove the leg below the knee quickly before it spread and I could have possibly lost the inter leg.

June 6th 2022 was the roughest day of my life, at 7.15am I had both my legs and was being prepared for surgery. By mid-afternoon I woke to half my left leg missing and a fuck load of pain. From this time for me everything changed. My life would never and has never been the same since.

This year … 2023 … is going to be a long and hard year ahead.

  • I want to be able to get up and about on my prosthetic
  • I need to be able to start doing things around home on my own from cleaning to cooking and so much more
  • I want to be able to get back to swimming again at the local pool
  • I want to be able to start writing my blog a lot more than what I am at the moment

There are so much more but those will do for now and I will add more in a further post. As it is very late I am going to end this post here and write another post in the coming days.

I hope everyone has a very Happy New Year and 2023.
