So, after my OHS (Open Heart Surgery) on May 5th, 2025, I ended up with an infection in the left arm scar (this is where they took the new veins for my heart bypass). It had been nearly a month of drugs and second daily wound dressings and cleaning, and still nothing was working.
When I spoke with my heart surgeon (I had been sending regular pictures of the infected wound site) on June 24th, 2025, he informed me he needed to perform surgery to clean the infection, put me on IV drugs and spend a few days in the hospital. He was admitting me on June 30th, 2025, literally 6 days later. This was not something he was messing around with, and surgery happened quickly. I was admitted on Monday (which was June 30th) and had surgery that same afternoon. I spent two days in the hospital, and it all went well.
This is what the infection site looked like with the infection and what it looks like now, minus the drainage tube, which came out before I was released to come home. 5 stitches, done very tightly due to the massive opening at the infected site in the wrist. The stitches come in just over a week, and let’s hope this is the end of any further complications from my OHS.
