New Prosthetic Update

At the start of writing this post, it is nearly 1.30am. I am sitting with YouTube playing in the background, and I am currently in so much pain from my left lower leg (yes, I am aware that leg is the amputation site). Had to have some Lyrica to deal with the phantom pain (as this is what it is), but I have not had this amount of pain for so long now.

Last Wednesday, I returned to the amputee clinic for the first time in a long while. The new prosthetics are just about finished. I was up and walking for a short time, and it felt so bloody good. It has been over 18 months since I was able to walk again. So about ten minutes of doing so felt bloody fantastic. I wasn’t just confined to the wheelchair and sitting on my ass.

I’ll be back at the clinic again next week, and hopefully, within a couple of weeks, the new prosthetic will be back at home, allowing me to start daily use for a short period until I get accustomed to it. Once this occurs, I will be able to accomplish so much more around the house. I will still need my walking aid (the walker), but I am higher and can do more than just being confined to the wheelchair.
