One of Those Long Nights

It’s currently 10:00 pm on Thursday evening, and I have officially run out of my pain medication. I took my last dose yesterday, so tomorrow morning cannot come soon enough. I have an appointment with my doctor at 8:00 am, after which I’ll need to contact the chemist to arrange my prescription. My support worker will then collect my medication before heading off to collect my weekly grocery shopping.

Once everything is done, we’ll continue with our usual Friday routine. This week’s meal preparation is a batch of homemade curried sausages with mashed potatoes, cooked by Chaice. It’s one of my favourite comfort meals, and I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, I am already feeling the effects of being without my medication. Even after only a couple of days, the pain has become much more noticeable, along with the symptoms that come with missing doses. Having relied on opioid medication for almost nine years, it is not something the body adjusts to quickly. While my doctor and I are gradually reducing my medication with the goal of eventually coming off it altogether, it is a slow and carefully managed process that cannot be rushed.

I suspect tonight will be much like last night, with very little sleep, increased pain, hot and cold sweats, muscle cramps, and plenty of discomfort. It is certainly not the way I would choose to spend a night, but sometimes all you can do is keep yourself occupied until morning arrives.

To help pass the time, I’ll probably spend most of the night playing a few games, including Grand Theft Auto V, Tower! Simulator 3, and, most likely, Diablo IV (Season 14). If I’m able to concentrate, I may also spend some time working on my mIRC operator script and macros, which have been keeping my mind busy lately.

This is only a short update, but I wanted to let everyone know how things are going. As always, thank you for taking the time to read my posts. I’ll have more updates to share soon, so stay tuned.
